Coordinating production of draft RBMPs with partners
As the Competent Authority tasked with co-ordinating the implementation of the Water Framework Directive in Northern Ireland the Department of Environment has convened The Water Framework Directive (WFD) Implementation Working Group (IWG). The IWG is comprised of representatives of the four Departments/Agencies with roles and responsibilities relating to water (Department of Environment, Department of Regional Dvelopment, Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure & Department of Agriculture and Rural Development). The IWG was tasked with the production of Draft River Basin Management Plans for the three International River Basin Districts – North Eastern, North Western and Neagh Bann. These were published on the 22 December 2008 and are currently out for a 6 month public consultation, which ends 22 June 2009.
