Water Framework Directive is implemented through river basin planning. This takes an integrated approach to the protection, improvement and sustainable use of the water environment, from source to sea.
A wide range of organisations have come together to produce draft River Basin Management Plans looking at all aspects of water management. These draft plans have been produced for consultation from 22 December 2008 until 22 June 2009.
