Magilligan Nature Reserve: Resources for KS3 Pupils - Coming Soon!
This Magilligan Nature Reserve: Resources for KS3 Pupils booklet has been produced with a number of purposes in mind. Various fact sheets provide source material; worksheets can be used during a visit; and follow-up material for use on return to school.
It is probably better to use the services of an Educator, but the book can be used easily by teachers designing their own fieldwork. Many of the concepts introduced link well with woodland habitat studies, as offered at many of our sites.
There is a general introduction to the area and its development. Topics examined include invertebrate seashore life, bird life, marine mammal life and pollution. There are also two historical sections dealing with the Martello Tower and Denis O'Hampsey's grave.
The whole programme is designed as a habitat study, but it is also meant to act as a starting point for environmental awareness in general and the contribution we all can make to its preservation.
