When are we consulted?
Planning Service (PS) and Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) have agreed on the types of planning application that NIEA should provide advice on.
This is where a proposal could affect:
- An area designated for its nature conservation value
- A plant or animal species protected by law
- An area containing a priority habitat or priority species identified in the Northern Ireland Biodiversity Strategy (www.ni-environment.gov.uk/biodiversity/issues/biostrat.htm)
- Other areas which contain natural features such as river corridors, grassland, peatland, woodland or earth science features
- An area designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or World Heritage Site.
- An area identified in an Area Plan as being of nature conservation or landscape importance.
