Q: How can I access information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI)?
A: Information can be accessed by:
- post - by writing to the appropriate unit within NIEA or to the FOI unit situated in the Klondyke Building.
- Fax/email to any member of staff or via the attached link
Information which falls under section 39 of the FOI Act 2000 - environmental information - must be handled under the Envionmental Regulations 2004 (EIR). In addition to the above forms of access EIR information can also be requested by telephone by contacting the appropriate unit.
Q: How long will it take to receive a response?
A: Responses to FOI/EIR have a statutory 20 government working day turnaround. The first date for calculation of this 20 day working period is the first day after the request is received.
