Electronic Services

The Northern Ireland Executive has adopted the Modernising Government agenda and has set targets for the electronic delivery of public services. This is perhaps more popularly known as 'e-government' services. NIEA fully embraces this initiative.

NIEA is a very computer literate organisation with virtually all staff having access to a computer. The Information Systems Unit of Corporate Services is responsible for the delivery of our information systems strategy.

We are currently developing our e-government services for the future. For example, we are exploring the use of web technology to enable our customers to apply for licenses and grants via the Government Gateway system. We are also developing Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to present our environmental information on the web site in the form of interactive maps.

Datasets are available to downlaod from our digital data section and several databases, including Buildings at Risk NI and Norther Ireland Sites and Monuments register are avialable from the databases section
